Interior Design Trends to Embrace in 2025

Interior design is always evolving and as we roll into 2025, some fresh trends are ready to help you create a new home that’s both stylish and inviting.

Whether you’re building a new home or knocking down your old one, it’s an opportunity to reflect your personal style.

This year, designers are seeing a big push towards nature-inspired looks and classic materials, which means you can keep things both trendy and timeless.

To dive deeper into these trends, we spoke with Jessica Moore, lead interior designer at Hindley & Co, to uncover what lies ahead for homes in 2025.

A return to nature

Colour trends in 2025 are all about embracing natural tones.

“These colours enhance an indoor-outdoor connection, reflecting the sophisticated yet relaxed style of Australian design,” Moore explained.

One standout is coastal sandstone, a warm earth tone with a red-tinted base. It can be paired with a silver green foliage hue, which can create a calming interior environment.

Another colour is tawny port, which has rusted undertones.

“Layered en masse with moody mauve, [this tone] invites a romantic, velvety and luxurious texture resembling smoke bush plumes and foliage,” Moore said.

For those looking for a cooler palette, an iced blue shade can be paired well with sandy neutrals and earthy reds.

Sanctuary bathrooms

Bathrooms are increasingly being reimagined as personal wellness sanctuaries.

“We are adopting the desire for at-home wellness spaces, promoting richness through ritual and nourishment,” Moore explained.

Designers are focusing on simple yet luxurious finishes, such as glazed ceramic tiles, seamless renders, and cedar timber panelling. This approach brings richness and promotes relaxation through daily rituals of self-care.

Lighting also plays a crucial role in transforming bathrooms into tranquil retreats.

Ethereal lighting, crafted from coloured glass and metal, alongside natural lighting and ventilation, can create calming atmospheres.

Nostalgic kitchens

In the kitchen, the nostalgia of the utilitarian style is being rekindled.

Designers are enjoying generous spaces that prioritise storage and preparation, supported by appliances that streamline daily activities.

“We’re inspired by natural, tactile finishes, and embracing palettes with rich, bold stone colours and patterns,” Moore said.

Spatial layouts will be central to the kitchen design, fostering easy movement and offering gathering opportunities around centrally placed objects.

Decorative objects now double as cookware in colours such as green and deep teal, adding nuanced charm and quality to the kitchen setting.

Revitalised fixtures

Fixtures will see a metallic essence in 2025, with aged or blackened bronze and iron taking the lead.

“These materials bring authenticity while remaining robust and elegant,” Moore said.

In tapware design, a minimalist approach is gaining traction.

“We love separating the elements, with single spouts and a bench mounted tap, allowing the simplicity of functional to be beautiful in its own right,” Moore said.
