If you are looking for the perfect earthy green, look no further—Dunn-Edwards’ Midnight Garden might be one of our favorite green shades yet.

Their 2026 Color of the Year is a reflection of homeowners’ desires to bring more wellness and a sense of grounding into their spaces, according to the press release.

“Midnight Garden is the green that works everywhere—from cabinetry and walls to accents and exteriors,” said Lauren Hoferkamp, Color Marketing Manager at Dunn-Edwards. “Its versatility makes it equally at home on interiors and exteriors, pairing effortlessly with natural textures, warm neutrals, or sleek minimalism.”

As more Colors of the Year are announced, some clear patterns are emerging. Hazelnut Crunch is just one of several brown-maroon tones to be named for 2026, signaling a clear trend toward this color next year.

“In an increasingly fast-paced world, homeowners desire spaces that offer restoration, comfort, and calm,” said Kim Lefko, Chief Marketing Officer at Ace Hardware, in a press release.

Lefko said that Hazelnut Crunch offers a rich, deep tone that sets an ideal backdrop for a relaxed atmosphere, blending seamlessly with natural textures as well as modern design features.

If you want to go a little more bold with your shade of burgundy, Divine Damson might be for you.

Graham & Brown, a British institution since the 1940s, unveiled the pick as their 2026 Color of the Year, and it’s a true testament that homeowners are looking for personality-driven shades for their walls.

“With its luxurious depth, Divine Damson evokes sophistication while anchoring whimsical designs with an elegant, contemporary edge,” according to the brand.

Graham & Brown, known for their wallpapers, also announced a Design of the Year, Eternal Weave, and Mural of the Year, Eternal City.

If you thought neutrals were a thing of the past, think again—Sherwin-Williams and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams have unveiled a collaborative color of the year for 2026, Universal Khaki.

The name speaks to the versatility of the color, and the color feels both familiar and fresh.

“Inspired by enduring elegance and rejuvenating resilience, this year’s selection is the essential neutral for anyone seeking a touch of sophisticated simplicity,” said the press release.

The color is also part of Sherwin-Williams’ Colormix Forecast 2026, Anthology: Volume Two, which features a collection of four distinct color palettes.

Matte Coffee Bean by Krylon

Krylon, best known for their spray paints, unveiled Matte Coffee Bean as their 2026 Color of the Year. This almost-black brown feels like a big statement, but makes complete sense with its intended use as an accent color.

“Matte Coffee Bean adds dimension with a natural, grounded allure, aligning with today’s increasing appeal of organic minimalism,” said Lisbeth Parada, Krylon’s Color Marketing Manager, in a press release.

“Inspired by elements like clay, wood and stone, this hue is a timeless yet sophisticated choice that elevates everyday spaces and invites a sense of harmony and serenity into the home.”

Since it’s a spray paint color, it makes a great choice for updating furniture pieces like chairs and cabinets, or smaller decor accessories like planters and vases.

Epernay by C2 Paints

C2 Paints’ 2026 pick might seem like a subtle nod to the butter yellow trend, but this sophisticated yellow is more of an ochre—and as a result, feels richer and more timeless.

“C2 Epernay has long been tied to European influences and is now emerging in contemporary design for its classic, versatile ambiance,” said interior designer and C2 Color Specialist, Philippa Radon, in a press release.

This color, Radon said, helps us recall history through its connections to color, art, furnishings, and nature. She says that it also encourages us to treasure the individuality of our homes and the daily stories we continue to create.

Epernay is part of C2’s 2026 En Terre palette, which also includes Parador, Spearmint, Potato Leek, Snowsky, and Blueberry.

Warm Mahogany by Glidden

Glidden

Wrap your home up in a warm hug with help from Glidden’s 2026 Color of the Year, Warm Mahogany.

This rich, almost-brown burnt red is a stark contrast to the millennial grays and neutral color palettes that have dominated home decor for the last decade or so.

Like many of the other colors on this list, Warm Mahogany feels slightly nostalgic and retro, with a mid-century modern flair, yet still feels modern and of-the-moment.

It works well both as an accent color or as the main event, and we even love it as a trim color, like you can see in this mudroom.

“It is a very classic and timeless type of color; too classic to go out of style,” Ashley McCollum, Glidden paint color expert, told The Spruce.

Special Walnut by Minwax

Minwax

It’s not just your favorite paint brands that have their color predictions for next year—interior wood stain brand, Minwax, announced Special Walnut as their pick for 2026.

“With wood emerging as a key element in interior design—from furniture and flooring to cabinetry and architectural details—there’s a renewed appreciation for finishes that enhance its natural character,” said Lisbeth Parada, Color and Design Lead at Minwax, in a press release.

“Special Walnut delivers with a classic, dimensional tone that feels both familiar and fresh. Its versatility makes it a favorite across styles and applications—whether you’re restoring a vintage piece or finishing a weekend project.”

Hidden Gem by Behr

Behr

After years and years of neutral paint colors, we have been itching to add some color to our homes—and Behr is here to help with their 2026 Color of the Year, Hidden Gem.

A beautiful green-blue, Hidden Gem makes a pretty bold statement in your home, but in a way that still feels doable and approachable.

And Behr’s pick is a direct reflection of what they say is the desire to bring more color into our homes. Anna Miller, The Home Depot’s Director of Trend & Design, told us that greens are a great way to do that because of their connection to nature.

“We are all constantly inspired by nature—you just can’t go wrong,” Miller said. “Harkening back to the palette of greens makes you feel confident that you’re going to love it every time.”

Whether you use it to color-drench a room, or simply as an accent to an otherwise toned-down palette, Hidden Gem is one of our favorite picks so far.

Warm Eucalyptus by Valspar

Valspar

Green is continuing to have its moment in interior design, though Valspar’s 2026 Color of the Year is a slightly cooler, earthier green.

Warm Eucalyptus feels comforting and serene, adding some color to a space (or a front door) without making a big statement. There’s almost a spa-like quality to it, and while we love it used in a cozy bathroom, it’s also just as at-home in a kitchen, bedroom, or living room—or even your home’s exterior.

“Warm Eucalyptus is an incredibly adaptable hue that can serve as a statement or a subtle anchor,” Sue Kim, Valspar’s Director of Color Marketing, told The Spruce.

Melodious Ivory by Dutch Boy Paints

If you’re still interested in embracing neutrals, Dutch Boy Paints’ 2026 pick, Melodious Ivory, is for you.

But this isn’t your typical farmhouse-style white hue. According to the press release, it’s a creamy-beige tone that “transcends trends.”

“Our 2026 Color of the Year invites homeowners to embrace what matters most—comfort, quality and connection,” said Dutch Boy Paints’ Color Marketing Manager, Lisbeth Parada, in the press release.

“Melodious Ivory offers a classic backdrop that beautifully supports the textures, elements and personal touches that make a space truly feel like home.”
