5 furniture arrangement tips for finding love, according to TikTok-viral feng shui practitioner
Good luck and money are not the only things feng shui is said to attract.
While these two things may be the common concerns clients seek whenever they ask advice from feng shui experts, some may or may not know that love is also an area covered by the practice.
Ahead of Valentine’s Day, GMA News Online spoke to architect, interior designer, and feng shui practitioner Cliff Tan to talk about some ways one can attract love this year through furniture arrangements.
Prioritize the flow and energy within your space
Cliff started off by saying feng shui is all about making your environment work for you to support the feelings of love that you might want to foster.
“When it comes to arranging furniture, it’s essential to prioritize the flow and energy within your space. Start by assessing the layout of the room – check where the door is, where the windows are, and make sure you sleep in the command position of the room.”
The command position is a specific placement that allows you to see everything that surrounds you.
Aside from the wall and the things hanging off of it, there should be nothing behind you to keep the feeling of being in command at all times.
“This placement imbues a sense of security and control, allowing you to feel protected and at ease in your own space,” Cliff said.
Create balance
Finding balance is also key when it comes to building effective relationships.
To create this sense of balance in your space, Cliff suggests having space on both sides of your bed and placing bedside tables with table lamps on each side.
“If there isn’t enough space to place the bed in the center, you can place it in a corner but have items to represent space for two, such as a loveseat or two chairs,” he said.
Create a sense of calm
The “Feng Shui Modern” author continued to share that furniture can only go so far when it comes to how a space might feel.
“It’s important also to create a sense of calm and romance in the room,” he said.
To achieve this, having soft and warm lighting is key to creating a subdued atmosphere.
Cliff recommends having indirect lamps, which is the opposite of the harsh, direct lighting that spaces usually have.
“Elements that remind us of love, such as figures of a pair of lovebirds, could be used to remind us of the sweetness of love. Of course choose only things that you actually like the look of,” Cliff said.
Set up a ‘love corner’
The viral TikTok content creator explained that in feng shui, certain areas of the home correspond with different aspects of life, including love.
“One such area is known as the love corner, typically located in the southwest part of the home. The corners are not chosen randomly but are affected by the environment. For instance, the east, where the sun rises, represents growth and new beginnings. On the other hand, the west, where the sun sets, signifies closure and the inclination to cherish what we have found, including love,” he said.
“In the love corner, it’s important to place things that remind you of love. This might include a pair of mandarin ducks, images of flowers, or cute pairs of things, symbolizing unity and harmony,” he added.
The purpose of your love corner is to remind you of the beauty of love, and it is responsible for relationships of all kinds, including romantic relationships, so it’s best to fill it with positive energy.
Make it personal
With the numerous feng shui tips available online, Cliff knows that it can be overwhelming. To address this, he advised to remember and revisit your personal wants.
“There are many resources online which give tips on feng shui, but above all, remember that feng shui is all about creating a space for you, so start with your senses,” he said.
“Look around you and be alert to how you feel when you are in a space. There is no better gauge than simply asking yourself how you feel, and learning from that first hand experience,” he added.
After all, you can never go wrong with listening to your instincts and following what it is that your heart truly wants.
Same goes with dating.
In fact, according to Bumble’s APAC Communications Director Lucille McCart, their recent dating trends report showed that 63%, or more than half, of surveyed Filipino women have been looking inward more than ever before.
This means single women are now becoming “more accepting of who they are, and showing up to their dating experience as a more vulnerable and authentic version of themselves.”
“We predict that 2024 will usher in a year of the self, with Filipinos feeling empowered to prioritize what they value, be fearless about what they stand for, and have a renewed sense of clarity about what they want in their romantic lives,” Lucille said.
“In today’s ever-evolving dating scene, it’s important to approach your romantic journey with purpose, self-awareness, and an open heart and mind,” she added. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
