Liz Potarazu, CEO and principal designer at LP & Co shares her thoughts on the classic wallpaper. ‘It creates whimsicality and brings the outdoors inside, and when the tones are dark, it adds a ton of drama to a space.’
‘Because flora and fauna-themed wallpaper can be bold and busy, pair it with coordinating colors or earth-toned moldings. Keep the furnishings and colors simple so the paper can pop,’ she suggests.

Susie Atkinson, Founder of Studio Atkinson, notes the following on the wallpaper found in her design. ‘The moment you emerge into the penthouse you are transported into a mystical woodland space created by the wallpaper that wraps around the space.’ These type of wallpaper murals showcase the beauty of nature and give a nod to vintage-style paintings.

Emily Mould, the Romo Group’s Director of Design and Excellence, says, ‘2025 will bring a bolder approach to wallcoverings. Vibrant, patterned, and ornate wallpapers are part of the ever-popular Maximalism style. ‘It reflects the person who lives there; it’s about being unique and showcasing your aesthetics and the electric energy you want your space to radiate,’ says interior designer Isabel Ladd. ‘More than paint or textiles alone, wallpaper is the most direct, most visual, most dramatic way to achieve this aesthetic. A maximalist wallpaper is the ultimate, most confident way to convey: This is Me. This is what brings me joy. This is my space, and I make the rules,’ she adds.

Interior Designer Nina Lichtenstein forecasts that ‘Lush, oversized botanical prints in deep greens and jewel tones are making a statement in 2025. Enigma, a design of interlocking rectangles, reflects light beautifully and provides a real glow to a room.’
Nina Lichtenstein concurs with the opulent quality of metallic papers. She says, ‘Glimmering metallic wallpapers in gold, bronze, and silver are being used as statement backdrops, especially in dining rooms and powder rooms. Subtle shimmer adds a touch of luxury without feeling over-the-top.’
8. Wallpaper the fifth wall

1st Dibs’ trend survey was taken by over six hundred interior designers. A large proportion of the voters said this trend was one of their favorites. ‘When it comes to design features and elements expected to be popular in 2025, wallpapered ceilings were voted among the top choices at 26%.’
Gray Walker is all for wallpapering the ‘fifth wall’, saying ‘I love to wallpaper in unexpected places to create a cloud of pattern… ceilings, alcoves, quirky old house dormer niches.’
Ceiling wallpaper ideas vary from continuing the designs from the walls to creating a tented feel with bold stripes. Whatever you choose, make sure it evokes the atmosphere you’re trying to create – a bedroom might call for a calming design, whereas a children’s playroom will benefit from something bold and playful.
9. Tonal wallpaper schemes

There has been an emphasis on soothing decorating ideas this year, with designers and homeowners looking to create calm and comforting spaces. As such, tonal schemes have been trending, with rooms introducing tonal wallpaper, paint, and decor proving popular.
‘We are seeing the rise of tone-on-tone decor, with people opting for uniformity throughout the scheme. This helps to create a considered and timeless space. I suggest mixing textures to enhance your scheme further. This conveys a collected scheme that just amplifies that element of luxury,’ says Chloe Vince.
Cohesion is the overall goal when creating a subtle and relaxing environment. Charlotte Cosby says matching your paint color to your wallpaper is the perfect way to create a harmonious balance.
‘To bring your scheme together, try using a color from the paper on your trim and architrave. We use our own paint on our wallpapers, meaning that you can achieve a perfect match and seamless flow of color, allowing for your space to feel truly considered.’
10. Vintage-inspired wallpaper designs

Decorating with vintage has become increasingly popular recently, so it’s no surprise that vintage-inspired wallpaper designs are on-trend for 2025. Think toile and chinoiserie designs that you’d expect to find in a French or English country house.
